After the death of the Prophet Muhammad, Islam first entered India in South Asia in the first century. The Umayyad Khalifa invaded Balochistan in Damskus and Sindh in 711 under the leadership of Muhammad bin Qasin. He captured Sindh and Multan. 300 years after his death, Sultan Mehmood Ghazni, a fierce leader, began a series of raids against Rajput rulers and at wealthy Hindu temples and established a base in Punjab for future ascent.
